A series devoted to the flowering of goodness in humanity and in the world.

I love vases and planters that are in the shape of a human head. For this series, I played with still life compositions using a "face-vase" holding a bouquet or plant. Visually they present a metaphor of the flowering of human consciousness.

 

The face-vase with flowers is an image that has kept coming up for me over the last year or so as I process what's happening in the world and try to make conscious choices in how I respond to it all. It started with a simple sketch in colored pencil and then grew to these 6 paintings.

For me, these are images of beautiful thoughts, our beautiful minds, and the beauty that we bring forth into the world when we focus on loving kindness and mutual care instead of competition and tribalism. ​
