Novella plays like a half-remembered summer set against the Mediterranean coast, an enchanting dreamscape shaped more by longing than historical fact.
The EP is the first from Emmy-winning composer Tyler Sabbag, known for colorful music that drifts between genres. At once familiar and unknown, it’s cinematic yet jazz-leaning, orchestral, percussive, and experimental, but always in search of beauty, seeking to connect listeners with the delight of living.
Anne-Louise Ewen created a visible world for his sound. The intention was to create a few paintings that could be used for the album art, but what flowed was a room full of works that convey the nostalgic, mediterranean mood that Sabbag created with this album. Sabbag and Ewen have recreated Ewen's painting studio as a public art installation where a visitor can immerse themselves in the creative, texture-rich atmosphere of the art studio while being transported by Sabbag's lush cinematic imagination stimulating sound being played through a record player.
