In much of the art world today, intention is considered paramount. Artists push the boundaries of cultural propriety under the pretext of provoking necessary questions, and it’s up to the viewer if the “discursive intention” is enough; enough to justify the work of an artist who uses an image, a culture, even an emotion that isn’t their own.

We invite you to take part in a world where you don’t have to pretend. You don’t need a discursive pretense, and your work doesn’t need a deeper meaning, intention or excuse.

In creating this exhibition, we extend an invitation that echoes fiction’s tyrannical chocolate mogul Willy Wonka: “Come with me and you’ll be/ In a world of pure imagination/..what we’ll see will defy explanation…” In this exhibition, the truth of the work will be the viewer’s experience.
